Philippe De Backer started his career working for an investment fund specialized in healthcare. From 2011 to 2016, he was a member of the European Parliament where he dealt with the dossiers in the Transport Committee and the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, and participated to the Intergroup on Long Term Investment and Reindustrialisation. From 2016 to 2018, he became Secretary of State for Social fraud, Privacy and the North Sea in the Federal Government of Belgium. Currently he is the minister for Digital Agenda, telecommunication and postal services.
